On July 13th, Dolce & Gabbana hosted their second Alta Moda show in Taormina – the very place where the brand’s couture journey began in 2012. This time, the designers drew inspiration from the imagery of goddesses, mythology, and the natural beauty of Sicily.

For Dolce & Gabbana, couture presentations have become a significant element of their brand identity, offering an avenue to further showcase the rich culture of their beloved Italy. “Creating an Alta Moda collection is akin to embarking on a journey into the past. With each unique creation, we repeatedly delve into our heritage and origins, reviving ancient traditions and remarkable craftsmanship,” the brand expresses. This season, the team structured the shows over three days: the first day featured the unveiling of the high jewelry collection, the subsequent day focused entirely on the women’s line presentation, and the weekend culminated with the men’s show. Dolce & Gabbana selected distinctive locations for each event.
The women’s show took place at the Radicepura botanical garden, a site that once served as a filming location for a scene in “The Godfather Part II.” Radicepura is a verdant sanctuary spanning five hectares across the slopes of Mount Etna. Its fertile volcanic soil nurtures over 5,000 varieties and 3,000 species of plants. Recognized as a hub for cutting-edge technology in international floristry and an outstanding example of sustainable development, the Radicepura botanical park cultivates an enchanting ambiance where nature, culture, and landscape coexist in perfect harmony. This setting provided an ideal backdrop for a collection adorned with lush floral appliqués, signature lace, corsetry, and numerous nods to classical art.
The central theme of the Alta Moda 2026 collection was the portrayal of the Sicilian woman as an earthly goddess. “There are realms belonging to mortals. And there are those reserved for deities. Yet, on special nights, the gods descend from the celestial sphere to grace the heart of the Mediterranean – Sicily. There, they are met by devoted women. Sicilian women. It is in the convergence of these two worlds that the magic of Alta Moda is born,” stated the opening address before the show. On the runway, the audience witnessed the full spectrum of the Sicilian woman’s archetypes – from representations of the Madonna and mafia wives to the classic figure of the “donne siciliane.”
