Audrey Hepburn is inspiring in any season, but her summer looks deserve special attention. On vacation in Antibes, the actress wore oversized sunglasses, and for boat trips, she chose wide-brimmed hats with unusual shapes. During the filming of “Roman Holiday”, she and Gregory Peck enjoyed gelato, dressed in a skirt with a defined waist. In her free time with her husband Mel Ferrer, the actress often wore plaid capris. Fortunately, numerous photographs preserve Audrey Hepburn’s various summer looks from her youth.
Many of these photos were taken at the famous Bürgenstock Resort in Lucerne, Switzerland. In 1954, Audrey Hepburn married Mel Ferrer in the resort’s chapel. Later, she settled in Villa Bethania, a house also belonging to the resort complex. The actress later moved to the Swiss town of Tolochenaz. There she lived in an 18th-century farmhouse called La Paisible. Vogue photographed this house for the April 1961 issue of the magazine. When Audrey Hepburn was not acting or participating in promotional events in Hollywood, she played golf, worked in the garden, and relaxed amidst the Swiss Alps.
Below, we offer a look at 18 photos of Audrey Hepburn in her best summer outfits.
